I really hope I have the time this year to attend the Ideas Festival. This is probably the closest thing in Brisbane to a TED conference, which I would so love to go to one day. One of may favourite talks from the last Ideas Festival was Steve Biddulph where he told us about a childcare conversation that he believe Australia wasn’t mature enough to have yet. Isn’t that a provocative idea Mr Groves? Anyway, here is some of what the website for Ideas Festival 09 has to say…
From March 24 to 29 (2009), the State Library of Queensland will be the hub of conversation, innovation and participation. The Ideas Festival will bring leading thinkers, innovators, young people, students and the general community together to celebrate and debate ideas that matter.
Ideas to action is the motto of the Ideas Festival as it looks for new ideas and creative solutions that will emerge as tools for a richer life. A marketplace of ideas from every creative field, the festival will show how innovation, creativity and collaboration across disciplines can create a brighter future.
