how do you like them green apples

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I know that Greenpeace give them a hard time but I personally am proud to be an Apple lover because of their environmental efforts. If you have ever unpacked an Apple product you will know that they have a talent for using minimal packaging. Apple can put my entire computer into a single box. When I bought my first Apple computer it came in a box smaller than the box my friend’s new monitor came in. In fact my friend’s monitor box was so big at the time that they were able to use it as a dining room table. Apple was able to send 4 computers at the same volume a rival computer company could send a monitor. Anyway…

Apple is now offering to recycle your old computers, any brand for free in Brisbane on the 27th, 28th and 29th of this month. Find out more here. And while you are there check out the other pages about Apple and the Environment.

Oh and sorry for all the Apple talk but it is a very exciting time in the Apple world right now.

now the top 8% in the world

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

apple logoThe joke on Apple users used to be that we only made up 5% of computer users world wide. The joke by apple users in response was that we were the top 5%. It seems that others want to be the best too. Apple users now make up 8% of computer users world wide.

Remember though that only one percent of people world wide are even computer users. It is still early days. Ever wanted to start a computer company? Might be a good idea… 99% of the market is untapped.

dashboard icon…introducing the Urban Grind Dashboard widget. If you are an Apple user you may have just said, “Cool, how did he do that?” but if you are not an Apple user readying on still has a thank you from me to the Urban Grind girls. So, when you are sick you can only sleep for so long and watch only so many movies before you have to make an RSS Widget.

First, I want to thank the girls for keeping the shop going while I was so sick. Especially Crystal, who kept the doors open and the coffee flowing when we otherwise would have been closed due to my sickness. She has really put in a huge effort and showed her commitment to Urban Grind and it’s community. Thank You Crystal!

Ok, back to geek stuff. Download the widget here. If you have not discovered Dashboard yet, in a few clicks you will have. You could even make your own widgets using dashcode, but note, watching this video first, is a massive help. Have fun!

Best Screen Saver… Ever!

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

lots a water screen saverUsually I don’t get into screen savers. Mostly because you are never, really actually meant to be looking at it, and it therefor defeats the purpose of making a visually cool looking screen saver, until I saw this one. I swear it has that fish in a fish tank effect. It gives the effect that there is water all over your screen. You can even change the depth. Yes, I have turned this thing on just to watch it. I am telling you… best ever! Download it here.
