The Truth is out on DVD

One of the things that concerns me about most of our media and a lot of our movies, is that it paints a picture of ourselves, that makes us look like a pretty average race of beings. Rapists, Murderers, Thieves, Terrorists, etc. On face value it can be depressing, but I think it generates a deeper feeling that we may not even be aware of. When it comes to things like saving that planet, I think with all this negative media we are left with a feeling of why bother? ‘This lousy human race is hardly worth saving!’ Is it true? I don’t think so. I think you will find that we are just ill-informed.

I have seen Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ 3 times now. Why? I understand the science. I feel the sense of urgency. I don’t feel I need to be reminded of the urgency. I have seen it 3 times because Al Gore makes me proud to be a human being. Through his example I see that we are more than our media will have us believe. He is truly one man that is changing the world. I was both bummed and excited to find that on our first attempt to get AIT out of the video shop, all their copies were out. Wicked! He gives me hope, he gives me faith and he gives us all an opportunity to step up to the challenges ahead. Get properly informed about humanity. See AIT and start reading worldchanging.com

Mate, nice insight. I havn’t watched tele for many months now for anything other than news and sport, but what i do hear about is the new game shows, the latest crime serial and probably a whole stack of american crap-designed to make a person feel like they have a friend or affiliation with a group of people which they could have with their own friends but…

The whole water crisis still hasn’t materialised in me-begrudgingly i feel like alot of other people: i need to be told or have it enforced as what to do…i find everything else pales in significance when we might run out of water in 2 years…i mean shit!!! No pun intended.

It’s an interesting concept to go from awareness and knowledge to action. And i think that’s where policy and thinkers come into it as the massess will always need to be told…i seriously dont think that we can achieve a change in consciousness that is needed in the short term. And perhaps that’s where we start-not at action but a conversation about this challenge to consciousness and action…My friend this is the type of conversation i want to start with NK and have a hundred going at once about different topics…every day-new conversations, continuing conversations etc. It becomes the place to be informed and inspired. Collective consciousness. But then needs tangible things on the ground. Because that’s where ideas become real.

Thanks Josh. It has been nearly 6 years since I have watched any regular TV. And news was the very reason I stopped. Just stick to the sport my friend.

Maybe there should be a pun. It has seemed crazy to me for a long time that we might be having a debate about cleaning our sewerage so that we can drink it. Would it not be wiser to stop shitting and pissing in it in the first place???

I feel that the only thing that the masses need to be told about is each other. So often it can feel like there is no action being taken and there are many easily identifiable reasons for this, but there is heaps of positive action taking place, we just don’t report it in the news, etc. Others like ODE, map magazine and worldchanging.com have realised this and responded in action.Maybe we can have an NK chat this weekend.

hey mate. 6 years!? woa. You are much older than me though haha. Mate, exactly. Why we always treat the problem and not the cause is beyond me; more roads for cars, treat sewage for more water, more wallets for money…

Had a bevan in a car yell/ask me today as i was riding “do ya have a death wish mate” for being on the road. Before i knew it the words “yeah mate” went back at him. Dudes like that make me so angry. They are the masses who cant be relaxed and careful for my life for sharing the road and causing him to hit the next corner 2 seconds later than he would otherwise. How do you get through to them?

I think we need to talk about NK otherwise it wont grow. It needs to be talked about. Here are a few more sites dad found:
    http://www.environment.gov.au
    http://www.kaos.erin.gov.au/site-index.html and
    http://www.ecoshop.com.au

i also like http://www.crikey.com.au and subscribe.

But none offer the appeal of what’s in my mind and would appeal to me. Unfortunatley or fortunately, lauren and i are heading to the lake this weekend for some full moon, a sea breeze or two and some reading. If you’re in the area or in the mood to escape the heat…
:) Sorry to miss you at Cate’s function tnite. I’m learning espanol mon and thur nights…

    Night.
