Urban Grind is currently on hold. We have closed our shop at New Farm and are taking a break while we plan a new shop. We will still pop up for events like TEDxBrisbane and this blog will continue. In the meantime I will be happily working in retail at the Di Bella Coffee Factory located at Bowen Hills. While I know I am going to love my time at Di Bella, I do look forward to re-opening Urban Grind sometime soon.
the shop
Urban Grind is a small cafe dedicated to coffee and community. We like to keep it simple – no decaffeinated, no cream, no frills, just good coffee. Sure we sell some cold drinks, a bit of food, and a small choice of teas that includes an awesome chai tea, but basically it is Espresso Coffee – fast (not instant) – prepared with care, attention and passion by a team of great staff that understand the joy of building and being part of a community.
Urban Grind strives to be a community encouraging business. For me a big attraction to coffee is the way it has the potential to bring people together. Conversation is also very important to us. Still trying to find the words to describe this side of Urban Grind which for me is a really core aspect.
the coffee
DiBella has, for over 7 years now provided us with a coffee that has never failed to impress. We use their Premium Blend which is a full flavoured, medium to strong, aromatic coffee with a distinctive rich velvety texture, delivering to the palate a smooth aftertaste, which leaves you wanting another – the way coffee should be. Phillip DiBella’s Premium Blend is roasted locally using top quality arabican beans sourced from South America and New Guinea.
We do the basics. Flat White, Latte, Cappuccino, Short Black, Long Black, etc. We can do just about all coffees as long as it doesn’t have cream, ice cream or a lack of caffeine. We also do iced coffees made with fresh espresso and we have Take-Away 250g bags of coffee that we can grind fresh to your needs.
For the non-coffee drinker.
We have an awesome Chai Tea and a small selection of other teas that include a Black Leaf, Green Leaf and a Herbal Tea. We also have a selection of cold drinks that include Emma & Tom’s Juices and Nutrient Waters.
Food
We have a small selection of food to compliment your coffee. Muffins, Brownies, Small Cakes, Muesli, Awesome Fruit Toast & Short Breads.
